every way possible
The Jane restaurant in Antwerp is a project by top chef Sergio Herman and architect Piet Boon. The chapel of a former military hospital is a very special backcloth for a Michelin starred restaurant which is unique in every way possible. In close collaboration with the chef and architect, we constructed the complete customised interior, including seating, tables and bars.
Three star quality
Down to the last millimetre, nothing was too much trouble, from the leather seating to the oak wood cupboards and shelving. Things were being altered and changed right up until the last moment, yet there was always someone available to discuss our many wishes and questions. Now that is three star quality in interior construction.’
Nijboer Interior and Design was responsible for construction of the interior. Never before have we worked with a company which employs so many experts. From owner René with his fantastic personality, and Chiel who takes care of all the work planning, to the men on the floor who made everything perfectly to measure.
"We created everything in-house for The Jane, from the seating and tables to the upstairs and downstairs bars. And all that in an old chapel, which was in dire need of some TLC when we began. We needed to make something of it together and I believe we’ve done so successfully. It was quite tense at times, with work overrunning schedule, and pressure on us as the final party, to get things back in line. And it’s so important that you keep your word. But once you see The Jane winning all the prizes, I think we can rightly be proud of the fruits of our labour.”
